Opuntia pennellii is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the American botanist Francis W. Pennell (1886–1952).

description

Opuntia pennellii grows in low shrubs. The bright green obovate, thick shoot sections are up to 15 centimeters long. The glochids, which are not conspicuous, are yellowish. The one or two awl, almost protruding, white thorns have a darker tip and are up to 3.5 centimeters long.

Nothing is known about the flowers and fruits .
