Opuntia robinsonii is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Opuntia robinsonii grows shrubby and reaches heights of up to 1 meter. Often a conspicuous strong thorny trunk is formed. The green, bare, more or less circular shoot sections are 15 to 20 centimeters wide. The areoles are 2.5 to 3 centimeters apart. Their glochids are yellow. The usually single spine , which is occasionally missing, is curved downwards and 1 to 2 centimeters long.
The bright lemon yellow flowers reach a diameter of 8 to 9 centimeters. The pear-shaped fruits have a diameter of up to 3 centimeters and a length of 5 to 6 centimeters.
Distribution and systematics
Opuntia robinsonii is common in the Mexican state of Sinaloa .
It was first described in 1929 by Jesús González Ortega .
