Opuntia securigera is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet securigera means 'contributing'.
description
Opuntia securigera grows creeping, is richly branched and reaches heights of growth of up to 20 centimeters. The cloudy green egg-shaped to conical shoot sections are 6 to 8 inches long and 4 to 6 inches wide. The large, round, white woolen areoles sit on low humps. Their yellowish brown glochids are deeply embedded in the shoot sections. The one to three glossy white central spines , sometimes more on older shoots, are slender, flexible and 2 to 5 centimeters long. The ten to 15 and often more radial spines are bristle-like, white and 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters long

Distribution and systematics
Opuntia securigera is common in Argentina (" Patagonia ").
