Oracle Linux (OL, formerly known as Oracle Enterprise Linux) is a Linux distribution that has been packed and freely distributed by Oracle since the end of 2006. This is partly under the GNU General Public License . It was compiled from the Red Hat Enterprise Linux source (RHEL) ( source code ), with the Red Hat branding being replaced by that of Oracle. It is also used by Oracle Cloud and Oracle Engineered Systems such as Oracle Exadata and others.

Prospective users can download Oracle Linux free of charge after registration via Oracle's e-delivery service (Oracle Software Delivery Cloud) or from various mirror sites, and provide and distribute it free of charge. The company's Oracle Linux Support program aims to provide commercial technical support that covers Oracle Linux and existing RHEL or CentOS installations, but without prior certification (i.e., without reinstalling or rebooting). By 2016, over 15,000 Oracle Linux customers had subscribed to the support program.
