Orai ( Hindi उरई Uraī ; Urdu : اورئ) is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
Orai is located in the south of Uttar Pradesh 100 kilometers southwest of Kanpur . The city forms the administrative seat of the Jalaun district . At the time of the 2011 census, Orai had just under 190,000 inhabitants. The city is divided into 28 wards .
Orai is located on the national highway NH 25 from Kanpur to Jhansi .
