In the 15th century the place received city rights from the Catholic Kings Isabella and Ferdinand ; around the same time the small parish church of the place was built. In the 1970s Orbaneja was incorporated into the municipality of 'Valle de Sedano' together with the neighboring town of Escalada .
Attractions
- The place impresses mainly due to its location on a slope of the Ebro Valley, surrounded by peculiar limestone cliffs .
- A spring rises in the Cueva de Agua , the water of which - depending on the intensity or duration of the rainfall - rushes down like a waterfall just a few meters past the houses in the village.
- In the flat landscape above the village there are numerous field stone huts ( chozas or cabanas ) with a round or square floor plan, whose roofs are constructed like cantilever vaults ; the rural buildings once served to guard the fields from theft by birds and people.
