Orbroich was an independent municipality in what was then the Kempen district in the Prussian Rhine province until 1913 . Your former area is now part of the two cities of Kempen and Krefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
The part of Orbroich that today belongs to Krefeld is located north of the center of the Krefeld district of Hüls and extends essentially as a scattered settlement on both sides of the three streets Vorderorbroich, Mittelorbroich and Hinterorbroich. The Kempen part of Orbroich comprises the eastern outskirts of St. Hubert and the area adjoining it to the east up to the city limits between Kempen and Krefeld. The municipality Orbroich covered in 1885 an area of 19.6 km².
history
Orbroich was originally a honeymoon in the Electorate of Cologne in Kempen and since the French times, alongside Broich, one of the two rural communities of the St. Hubert mayor in the Prussian district of Kempen. On April 1, 1913, Orbroich merged with Broich to form the parish of St. Hubert . On April 1, 1936, the eastern part of Orbroich was reclassified from the parish of St. Hubert to the parish of Hüls. St. Hubert with the western part of Orbroich was incorporated into Kempen in 1970. Hüls with the eastern part of Orbroich also came to Kempen in 1970, but was transferred to Krefeld in 1975.

Architectural monuments
Architectural monuments in the Kempen part of Orbroich are the Raveshof with barn and Berfes , the Geneigenhof and the former syringe house at the Hannerhof. In the Krefeld part of Orbroich, the Düwel, the Stengshof, the Mittelorbroich 34, the Gastendonk, the Heiligenhäuschen Hinterorbroich and the former school Vorderorbroich are under monument protection .
