Orchestra hit
Orchestra Hit (Abbreviation Orchehit u. A .; German: Orchesterabschlag ) is a sampler instrument or a sampling sound source that was produced by a combination of orchestral instrument sounds and in which the orchestra simultaneously with a staccato tone or sound like a tutti - A chord or flourish sounds in a classical orchestral piece .
Orchestra hit is assigned number 56 in the assignment of the General MIDI (GM) program slots (in the ensemble group).
The original version of the orchestra hit was accidentally recorded from a vinyl record. This formed the ORCH5 of the Fairlight CMI , the first digital synthesizer with sampling technology. It was the opening chord of the "Infernal Dance" from Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite .
It has since become very popular in pop , hip-hop , and techno music as a dramatic and percussive component since the 1980s, and manufacturers of various synthesizers added similar samples to their devices. Today it is contained in almost every sample library (sound library) in different variations.
"Orchestra Hit" is z. B. can be heard in the song "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by the group Yes .
