The Order of the Mexican Eagle ( Spanish : Orden del Águila Mexicana ) was created on January 1st, 1865 by Emperor Maximilian of Mexico “in memory of the restoration of the fatherland, as evidence of brotherly friendship for the helpful and friendly princes and as a reward for any merit “Donated.

Medals

The medal (gem) (45 millimeters for knights and officers, 55 millimeters for committees and grand crosses) shows the Mexican eagle, silver in the knightly class, golden in the other classes, sitting on a green nopal plant, tearing the green serpent of discord, crowned from the Mexican imperial crown. In front of his chest he holds the crossed scepter as a symbol of equity and a sword as a symbol of justice.

Carrying method

The grand cross was carried on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip, as well as with a breast star. In addition to a breast star, grand officers wore the award, as did the commendants as neck medals , officers and knights on a ribbon on the left side of the breast. Officers also had a rosette on the tape .

The ribbon is dark green with two purple border stripes.

The collar was reserved for the monarch and other sovereigns.
