history

Back of Paleis Huis ten Bosch, October 14, 1946 (Nationaal Archief)

The first castle was built in 1341. From 1545 to 1564 the order built a new castle and church. In Küstrin located, were Sonnenburg and the Castle in the Thirty Years' War destroyed. The master master Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen therefore had a new residential palace built by the Dutch master builder Cornelis Ryckwaert from 1662 to 1667. The building designs come from the Dutch builder Pieter Post . The facade bears a strong resemblance to the rear of the Huis ten Bosch palace .

The palace was the seat of the master master Prince Oskar of Prussia until 1945 . It survived World War II without damage, but burned down in 1973 under circumstances that have not yet been clarified. Only the main walls are preserved.
