Orfeo pizzoferrato

Orfeo Pizzoferrato (born November 19, 1951 in Venere di Pescina , L'Aquila ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Orfeo Pizzoferrato achieved eight times in the 1970s an Italian amateur championship title in the disciplines of individual and team pursuit on the track and in the individual time trial on the road . At the UCI Track World Championships in 1974 in Montreal he was runner-up in the single pursuit, behind the German Hans Lutz , and was third in the same discipline the following year at the UCI Track World Championships in Rocourt in 1975 . At the 1976 Olympics , he was sixth in the singles pursuit. In the spring of 1975 he won the Coppa San Geo, one of the most important amateur races in Italy.

In 1977 Pizzoferrato started in the International Peace Race and came second on the sixth stage from Neubrandenburg to Berlin and 79th in the overall ranking.

In 1980 Orfeo Pizzoferrato turned professional , but ended his cycling career a year later. His son Claudio was also a professional cyclist, as was Orfeo's brother Lino .
