Orion Denki KK ( Japanese オ リ オ ン 電機 株式会社 , Orion Denki Kabushiki kaisha , Orion Electric Co., Ltd. ) is a consumer electronics manufacturer founded in 1958 in Osaka . In addition to Orion Denki, there is the Budapest- based company Orion Electronics with the same name and a similar logo, but which is legally independent from the Orion Denki described here and operates as a contract manufacturer. He also sells Orion Denki's products.
Headquartered in the city of Echizen in Fukui Prefecture . The Orion Group has 10,000 employees in Germany and abroad. Orion has factories and offices on four continents, including Japan , Thailand , Poland , England and the USA . Orion has grown steadily over the past few decades. Small and large televisions ( plasma , LCD ), TV combos and DVD players and combis were developed and produced for the USA, Europe and the Australian market. Orion's production facilities in Thailand have been recognized by the Thai state.
The first products manufactured included transistor radios, radio cassette recorders, and car and home stereos. Orion produces 6 million televisions and 12 million DVD players and television combo sets annually. Most of the products are made in Thailand.
In addition to products under its own brand, the company also produced televisions and video recorders for Broksonic, Memorex, Otake, Sansui and in North America in the 1980s and 1990s for Emerson Radio . In the 1990s, televisions, combination devices, VHS and hard disk recorders were manufactured for Wal-Mart under the Orion brand and other well-known brands. From 2001 to 2009 Orion took over the production of smaller CRT / LCD television and DVD / video combination devices for the manufacturer Toshiba . In 2011, Orion acquired the rights to the JVC brand for consumer electronics. Orion also manufactured products for the Hitachi , Sanyo and Sharp brands .
In Germany, Orion products were sold from 1974 to 2013 by ISP KG Dieter Lather in Dreieich. At the beginning of 2014, the Chinese group Tongfang Global secured the rights to the Orion brand and has been responsible for sales and production ever since. The end of 2017 the competent has Tongfang Global Germany GmbH , the liquidation requested.
