Orthotylus flavinervis is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).
features
The bugs are 5.2 to 6.1 millimeters long. The species of the genus Orthotylus are predominantly green in color. Many are extremely similar and are therefore very difficult to determine based on external characteristics. The host plants of the respective individuals are therefore an important indicator. Orthotylus flavinervis has a densely pale haired upper surface and the membranes of the hemielytres are gloomy and have yellow veins . The first antennae is brownish.
Occurrence and habitat
The species is distributed from the south of Scandinavia across western and central Europe to the southeast and the Ukraine. It is widespread in Germany and Austria, but apparently nowhere often. Mainly river banks and forest edges are settled.
Way of life
The bugs live on alder trees ( Alnus ), especially black alder ( Alnus glutinosa ). The adult bugs appear from June to August.
