Ortrun Schulz

Ortrun Schulz (born February 27, 1960 in Hanover ) is a German philosopher and book author. From 1992 to 1994 she was a board member of the Schopenhauer Society and from 1992 to 2005 she was editor of the Schopenhauer yearbook . Since June 1998 she has been the contact person for the “International Schopenhauer Mailing List” in collaboration with Yasuo Kamata ( Kwansei Gakuin University , Japan). She has been offering philosophical life counseling since 2005.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1978 at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium in Hanover, she studied English and fine arts at the Hanover University of Education and the subjects of horticulture, German, English and philosophy at the University of Hanover . In February 1986 she completed her Magister Artium (MA) in Philosophy and English Linguistics at the University of Hanover. The theme of the work was: The Centrifugal Tendency of Thought: An Inquiry into the Place of Abstraction in Semiotic Epistemology by Charles S. Peirce. In March 1993 she received her PhD in Dr. phil. in philosophy. The subject of the dissertation was will and intellect in Schopenhauer and Spinoza.
