Coordinates: 48 ° 35 '50.2 "  N , 15 ° 58' 55.8"  O The local band Pranhartsberg is a south-facing and St. Anthony of Padua dedicated Roman Catholic chapel in village Pranhartsberg in the market town sitzendorf an der schmida in the Hollabrunn district in Lower Austria and is a listed building .

history

The simple hall building with a tower facing the north stands at the southern end of Dorfstrasse, where a wooden chapel was located before 1881. This previous building is marked by a cross in the Franziszeischen Cadastre and defined as a wooden structure by the yellow painting. A memorial plaque provides information about the time when the new chapel was built.

Another memorial plaque in the tower commemorates an extensive renovation of the chapel that took place in 1903.

An electric tower clock, which is attached to the north side of the tower, was purchased in 1993 and in 1996 the outside of the chapel was renovated.

Since Pranhartsberg is located in the parish of Sitzendorf, pastoral care has always been provided from there.

Building description

Outside

The building rises above a base with a three-eighth connection , which is closed by a hipped gable roof . This starts over a circumferential, profiled eaves cornice .

The 17 meter high tower is divided into three zones and provided with cleaning flasks on the facade edges. The lower area is closed off by a profiled cornice that connects to the eaves of the main building. A simple portal on the front side leads into the interior via an open vestibule. In the middle area are arched sound windows under pointed gables, above which the curved helmet attaches. This is crowned by a tower ball with a simple cross.

Inside

View to the south

The neo-baroque altar from the construction period of the chapel consists of a flat, marbled picture retable flanked by pilasters , which shows St. Anthony of Padua with the baby Jesus in his arms. In front of it is a statuette of Mary with the baby Jesus .

The popular altar that was set up in front of the reredos is stylistically adapted.
