Oscar Antonsson

Oscar Arvid Antonsson (born January 31, 1898 in Lund , † February 23, 1960 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish art historian , draftsman and sculptor .

Life

Oscar Antonsson studied art history at Lund University until 1923 and was awarded a doctorate in 1937 at Uppsala University with a dissertation on the Hermes des Praxiteles . From 1930 he worked at the National Museum in Stockholm, first as an assistant, from 1934 as curator, from 1944 as deputy director and from 1946 as director.

He went on study trips all over Europe and even as a student devoted himself to the fine arts, especially as a draftsman, but then above all as a sculptor with bronze sculptures.
