Oscar Behogne

Oscar Olivier Ghislain Behogne (born February 2, 1900 in Charleroi-Couillet , Hainaut , Belgium , † December 13, 1970 in Nalinnes , Hainaut) was a Belgian politician of the Parti Social Chrétien (PSC) - Christian Social Party (CSP) .

biography

After finishing school, Behogne worked as a metalworker and miner and was later an assistant and teacher at a social college . In addition, he was involved in the General Christian Trade Union Association (ACV) and was its national secretary from 1946 to 1948.

He began his political career as a member of the local council and as mayor of Nalinnes. He was also a member of the Chamber of Deputies and represented the interests of the Parti Social Chrétien (PSC) - Christian Social Party (CSP).

In March 1947 he was appointed to a government by Prime Minister Paul-Henri Spaak for the first time as Minister for Public Works and was a member of that government until August 1949. Subsequently, he was in the cabinets of Prime Ministers Gaston Eyskens and Jean Duvieusart until August 1950 Minister for Labor and Social Welfare.

Between August 1950 and April 1954 he was again Minister for Public Works during the tenure of Prime Minister Joseph Pholien and Jean Van Houtte .

Most recently, Behogne was Minister of Labor in Eysken's second government from June 1958 to 1960.

For his political services he was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State on July 12, 1966 .
