Oscar Hinsberg

Oscar Heinrich Daniel Hinsberg (born October 21, 1857 in Berlin ; † February 13, 1939 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German chemist and university professor.

Hinsberg studied chemistry and received his doctorate from the University of Tübingen , his doctoral supervisor was Eugen Baumann . He worked as a professor at the University of Freiburg and later at the University of Geneva .

Hinsberg discovered the well-known Hinsberg separation , the Hinsberg thiophene synthesis , a method for identifying and separating various amines via their sulfonamides .
