Oscar Mudry (born September 9, 1925 in Martigny ; † November 28, 2016 ibid) was a Swiss ice hockey player who played for Lausanne HC in the National League A and won the bronze medal with the Swiss national ice hockey team at the 1953 Ice Hockey World Championship .

Career

Oscar Mudry began ice hockey when he was 14 when he helped found HC Martigny , for which he played for ten years. In 1949 he moved to Lausanne HC , for which he played in the National League A for the next few years . He later returned to his hometown and made promotion to the National League B with HC Martigny as a player- coach in 1955 .

Between 1961 and 1964 he was employed as a coach at HC Crans-Montana. From 1968 to 1974 he was president of HC Martigny.

In 2014 the VIP box of the HC Red Ice was inaugurated in his honor as the «Oscar Mudry box». Mudry died on November 28, 2016 at the age of 91.

International

Mudry played for Switzerland at the 1953 World Cup , which was held in his own country. With the confederates he won the bronze medal behind Sweden and the Federal Republic of Germany and was involved in the last medal win of a Swiss team for 60 years.
