The Osechka Peak ( Russian Гора Осечка Gora Ossetschka , German “ misfire mountain ” ) is a 1740 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 10 km south of the outpost in the Lomonossow Mountains .
Norwegian cartographers mapped it on the basis of aerial photographs and measurements of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) from 1958 to 1959. Between 1960 and 1961, Soviet scientists again surveyed and named it. The further naming background has not been passed down. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian name in 1970 in an adapted partial translation into English.
