The Osiris sword plant or Uruguay sword plant ( Echinodorus uruguayensis Arechav. , Syn . : Echinodorus osiris Rataj , as Echinodorus uruguayensis var. Minor also called Echinodorus horemannii ) is a swamp plant from the family of the frog- spoon plants (Alismataceae). Osiris' sword plant is named after the Brazilian aquatic plant nursery Lotus Osiris .

description

It is a medium to large and vigorously growing, perennial, herbaceous plant that forms rhizomes. The elliptical-lanceolate leaves have a wavy edge and grow out of a rosette. The upper side of the leaf is olive green to reddish brown.

Occurrence

The natural range of this plant species is southern Brazil , Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and southern and central Chile.

use

Like most other species of the sword plant genus , the Osiris sword plant is one of the popular aquarium plants . The Osiris sword plant is considered a particularly undemanding and adaptable plant with a medium to high light requirement. In the aquarium this species thrives best at temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees Celsius. It is suitable as a medium, background and specimen plant. Aquariums should hold about one hundred and fifty liters.
