Osman Okkan

Osman Okkan (* 1947 in Ankara ) is a German-Turkish journalist and filmmaker .

Life

Okkan was born in Turkey and came to Germany in 1965. From 1966 to 1976 he studied economics, sociology and political science at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. (MA). He then worked as a freelance journalist for German and Turkish media. From 1986 to 2006 he was a documentary filmmaker for WDR . He founded the Kulturforum Turkey Germany , whose board spokesman he is today. In 2009 he co-founded the Hrant Dink Forum Cologne.

In the past few years he was responsible for several documentaries for WDR and arte .
