Ossenreyerstraße 1 is the postal address of a listed building on Ossenreyerstraße in Stralsund .

The building at the beginning of Ossenreyerstraße near Alter Markt , to the left of Alter Markt 9 and opposite the town hall , was built in 1691/1692 for the merchant Daniel Schlomann.

It is a three-storey , four-axle eaves house with a hipped roof . The facade is plastered . The front facing the street is characterized by colossal pilasters that rest on high pedestals . In the second axis (from the north) there is a round arch portal .

On the first floor of the house is a wallpaper room, which was long known as the "Hackert'scher wallpaper room" because its decoration was seen as a work by Jakob Philipp Hackert . Hackert stayed in Swedish Pomerania from 1762 to 1765 and actually created wall decorations for his patron, who was then tenant of the house of Adolf Friedrich von Olthof . But only in one room in the manor house Boldevitz on Rügen , then owned by Olthof, was a Hackertian interior from this time completely preserved. The art historian Michael Lissok, however, was able to date the wallpapers in the house at Ossenreyerstraße 1 to around 1800 and identify the Stralsund "decoration painter" David Gottlieb Lorentz Phönix as their actual creator.

The house was renovated by Polish specialists in the 1980s and last housed a library. At the beginning of the 2000s, an increased concentration of pollutants was found in the rooms and the building was closed for use. After the extensive renovation, in which the building was completely gutted, an exhibition by the City of Stralsund on the subject of “World Heritage” moved into the building in 2011.

The building is located in the core area of the UNESCO as a world heritage site recognized urban area of the inheritance Historic Centers of Stralsund and Wismar . It is also part of the Schwedenstrasse , a holiday route in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg with a cultural-historical theme. It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 616.
