The East Asian Tailless Leaf Nose ( Coelops frithii ) belongs to the genus of the Tailless Leaf Nose and is native to Bali in the east of India and in the south of China (including Taiwan ) .

These bats reach a head-trunk length of 38 to 50 mm and a forearm length of 34 to 44 mm. Coelops frithii usually weighs between 3 and 7 g. Their ears are relatively large and round with an antitragus. As the German trivial name suggests, the tail is missing or just an inconspicuous stub. Their fur is long and soft, dark gray or brown to chestnut brown on the back. The peritoneum is paler: brownish or ash gray. The nose sheet has a horseshoe-shaped basic shape as the other hipposideridae. Other smaller parts of the nasal blade are usually hidden under tight, stiff hair.

The habitat of the bats is mainly a forest habitat from sea level up to an altitude of 1370 m. The East Asian Tailless Leaf Nose lives in caves or hollow trees. It feeds on insects. Their high-frequency echo localization of around 350 kHz indicates that the prey is small insects living in the forest habitat or near the surface of the water. This species of bat lives in small colonies of 16 or fewer individuals.
