Osteraccum is a small town in East Frisia . It belongs to the municipality of Stedesdorf . The 6.88 square kilometer scattered settlement has about 50 inhabitants. It is located about 1.5 kilometers north of Stedesdorf and about three kilometers east-southeast of Esens at an altitude of about 3 meters above sea level . The villages and residential areas Boisenhausen, Helsenwarfen, Insenhausen and Twietens also belong to the locality.
history
Osteraccum is first mentioned in 1497 or 1498 in the will of the ruling family Kankena under the name Oesterackum . The place name is composed of the direction east and the basic word Accum , which in turn is composed of the nickname Acke and -um (= home).
Osteraccum was an independent municipality, which in 1972 was combined with Thunum , Mamburg and Stedesdorf to form the municipality of Stedesdorf.
