Barbara Ostmeier , née Ziebell (born April 20, 1961 in Bad Salzuflen ), is a German politician ( CDU ) and member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in Bad Salzuflen in 1979, she studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. After the first state examination , she completed her legal traineeship in Düsseldorf and Krefeld and passed the second state examination in 1991 as a fully qualified lawyer with qualification for judicial office.

Barbara Ostmeier is an Evangelical Lutheran, married and has four children.

Barbara Ostmeier joined the CDU in 1998 and has been a member of the municipal council in Hetlingen for her party since 1998 . From 1998 to 2003 she was 2nd deputy, from 2003 to 2005 1st deputy and from 2005 to 2014 mayor. At the same time, she also held the post of first deputy head of the Haseldorf office from April 2005 to August 2013. In 1998 Ostmeier took over the chairmanship of the electoral review committee and two years later the chairmanship of the sports, culture and environment committee. From 2003 she was a member and no longer as chairwoman. In addition to her role in the School and Social Committee, she was a member of the Audit Committee from 2003 to 2005 and from 2013 to 2014. From 2005 on, she also served on the Finance and Personnel Committee, which was dissolved in 2013.

Barbara Ostmeier has been a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament since the 17th electoral term, which was elected in 2009. From 2009 to 2012 she was a member of the Home and Legal Affairs Committee and a deputy member of the Petitions and Environment and Agriculture Committee.

In 2012 Ostmeier was re-elected to the state parliament as a directly elected member of the Pinneberg Elbmarschen constituency for the 18th electoral term. In the 18th electoral term she was deputy secretary and chairwoman of the Committee on Home Affairs and Legal Affairs and of the First Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry in Friesenhof . Since November 17, 2016, she has also been a member of the newly established committee for cooperation between the states of Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. Since 2012, Ostmeier has also held functions as a deputy member of the data protection committee, the G 10 commission and as a member of the judges' selection committee, of which she was a deputy member in 2010.

In the 2017 state elections , Barbara Ostmeier once again entered the state parliament with 39.9 percent of the first votes as a directly elected member of the Pinneberg-Elbmarschen constituency for the 19th electoral term. She is also the chairwoman of the Home Affairs and Legal Affairs Committee in the 19th electoral term and is also the integration and sport policy spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group.

Social Commitment

From 2001 to 2014, Barbara Ostmeier was involved in the kindergarten advisory board, from 2003 to 2014 in the Pinneberg road maintenance association and from 2006 to 2014 in the assembly of the Elbmarsch wastewater association . From 2005 to 2014 she was also a hunting warden. She is currently a member of the Kita21- Die Klimaretter Südholstern project advisory board .
