The East Prussian National Cavalry Regiment was established in 1813 .

history

On the orders of Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg , Count Lehndorff-Steinort began setting up the regiment in February 1813. 38 recruits were assigned to him; he had to recruit all others from the ranks of the non-military. The volunteers had to bring their horse and equipment. All 833 riders came from East and West Prussia . The regiment was assigned to Blücher's Silesian Army and fought gloriously in the Battle of the Katzbach and the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig . Until the capture of Paris on March 30, 1814, it belonged to the cavalry vanguard of the Blücherer army under Major General von Katzler (see General procession ). Three squadrons of the regiment were used in 1815 to set up the Guard Hussar Regiment .
