Ostseeschnauzen is a German television series that tells everyday stories and episodes from the Rostock Zoo . After the ARD production Elefant, Tiger & Co. and the offshoots, ZDF tried to build on this success as part of the series Zoo Stories in the afternoon .

In March 2007, ZDF started filming the documentary series. In this, various situations and stories of the animals and keepers from the Rostock zoo, which is home to 1700 animals, were presented.

The 20 episodes of the series were first broadcast from July 30 to August 24, 2007.
