Panda, Gorilla & Co. is an animal documentary series of RBB that the great success of Elephant, Tiger & Co. anknüpft. The series tells stories from the Berlin Zoo and Tierpark Berlin .

The series started in 2006 with 52 episodes, although originally only 40 episodes were planned. Like the role model Elephant, Tiger & Co. , Panda, Gorilla & Co. also offers a look behind the scenes and accompanies the veterinarian and carer in their daily work. The speaker Olaf Baden lends his voice to the stories of Panda, Gorilla & Co. The program is produced by DOKfilm Fernsehproduktion , with Sabine Preuschhof editing. Anja Hagemeier and Jana von Rautenberg are directing the film. The episodes are each about 50 minutes long.

The first episode premiered on April 18, 2006 and the last episode of the first season on July 20, 2006 on ARD. An average of 1.81 million viewers saw the 52 episodes of the first season. From January 3 to March 3, 2008, the 40 episodes of the second season were broadcast on ARD. From January 20 to March 19, 2009, the 40 episodes of the third season were broadcast on ARD and RBB. The fourth season ran for the first time from May 21 to September 6, 2010 on ARD and RBB and comprises 60 episodes.

A 40-episode fifth season was broadcast from August 24 to October 20, 2011. The sixth season was first seen from July 16 to September 17, 2013 and contains 45 episodes. The 40 episodes of the seventh season premiered from December 16, 2014 to February 25, 2015. The eighth season first appeared from June 2 to September 23, 2016 and consists of 55 episodes.

In addition to the regular episodes, there are various specials, for which almost always existing film material has been re-edited. In addition, Das Erste ran from April 3 to June 2, 2014, a 39-episode season with 29-minute short episodes of the series, which consists of cuts of older episodes.

The DVD release of the series was inconsistent. The existing film material from the first season was re-edited. From ten episodes each (or twelve episodes on DVD 5), three new episodes with a running time of around 50 minutes were put together. A few more scenes have been added as bonus material. Five DVDs have been released, the so-called "best of" covering all episodes (1–52) of the first season. So far, only eight episodes of the second season have been released on two DVDs, these are uncut and correspond to the TV broadcast. In addition, a DVD with episodes of various baby animals was released under the title Panda, Gorilla & Co. Junior , for which existing material was re-edited.
