Osvaldo Mariño

Osvaldo Mariño , full name Osvaldo Mariño Fernández , (born July 19, 1923 in Montevideo , † September 20, 2007 ) was a Uruguayan swimmer and water polo player .

Mariño was a member of the Uruguayan squad at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London . At the games in England he was a member of the water polo team and finished with the team after two defeats against Belgium (1:10) and the USA (0: 7) in 13th place in the Olympic tournament won by Italy. He also took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1951 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires . There he started swimming.

Mariño left behind his widow and four children. He was buried in the Cementerio del Buceo .
