Oswald Waldschmidt

Oswald Waldschmidt (born December 14, 1879 in Korbach ; † May 19, 1949 there ) was a German magistrate and politician ( DNVP ).

Waldschmidt was the son of the professor and vice-principal at the Korbach grammar school Karl Friedrich Georg Waldschmidt and his wife Emma Julie Louise Albertine nee Marc. He married Hildegard Agnes Adelheid Stöcker on March 10, 1920 in Korbach. Waldschmidt was the grandson of Louis Friedrich Christian Curtze and the brother of Max Waldschmidt .

He studied law and became a local judge, later a local judge at the Korbach district court . He was president of the Waldecker Landessynod and became government director in Erfurt in 1929.

From 1914 to 1919 he was a member of the state parliament of the Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont . He was elected in the constituency of Eisenberg . After the November Revolution he was from 1919 to 1929 for the DNVP a member of the Waldeck-Pyrmont constitution-making state representation and the Waldeck state representation. 1922–1929 he was President of the State Representation of the Free State of Waldeck. He played a leading role in the negotiations on the connection of Waldeck to Prussia.

On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the university on June 25, 1927, he was honored as an honorary senator of the University of Marburg "as a testimony to his successful work for the anniversary foundation and at the same time as a token of heartfelt thanks for the willingness of the state of Waldeck to make sacrifices for the Hessian state university" .
