Otakar Kubin
Otakar Kubín (born October 22, 1883 in Boskovice , † October 7, 1969 in Marseille ; French name form Othon Coubine ) was an internationally renowned Czech - French painter , graphic artist and sculptor . He was a member of the Prague artist group “The Eight”. In 1913 he was able to exhibit five pictures at the First German Autumn Salon in Berlin. In 1912 he went to France, took the name Coubine and became a French citizen in 1926.
His works are mainly associated with Impressionism . He was influenced by the art of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin . He was friends with Pablo Picasso .
