Otar Kalandarishvili
Otar Kalandarishvili ( Georgian ოთარ კალანდარიშვილი ; born June 16, 1925 in Tbilisi ; † September 2003 ) was a Georgian-Soviet architect. Kalandarishvili is one of the most important Georgian architects of the 20th century.
Life
Kalandarishvili graduated from the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi in 1950 with a degree in architecture . He was an architect for the urban development project Tbilkalaprojekt ( Georgian თბილქალაქპროექტში ). From 1955 to 1977 he taught at the Faculty of Architecture at the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi. From 1960 he was a member of the Union of Architects of Georgia and a board member of the Union of Architects of the USSR .
The photographer Mari Nakani is his granddaughter.

- Late 1960s: Iveria Hotel, Tbilisi (heavily rebuilt in 2010s)
- 1974–76 (with Guiso Potschischwili ): Residential building on Nutsubise Street, Tbilisi (preserved)
- 1981 (with the sculptor Merab Berdsenishvili ): Monument of Fame (demolished in 2009), Kutaisi
- 1982–83: Stage for the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (jokingly known as Andropov's Ears ), Tbilisi (demolished in 2005)
