Otia Iosseliani

Otia (Otija) Iosseliani ( Georgia იოსელიანი ოტია * 16th June 1930 in Gwischtibi, Imereti , Georgia ; † 14. July 2011 in Tsqaltubo , Imereti, Georgia) was a Georgian writer and playwright .

Life

Otia Iosseliani studied Georgian language , literature and psychology at the Pedagogical Institute in Kutaisi , and later at the Art Academy.

In 1957 he published his first children's book, Door Neighbors . An adventure book followed in 1960, The Adventures of a Headless Boy . From 1959 to 1961 he took part in a course at the Moscow Literature Institute , became a freelance writer. In the same year he published the novel Sternenfall and his play A Man Endures That Only Once was premiered at the Rustaveli State Theater in Tbilisi .

His works have been translated into 17 languages, including German and English. Iosseliani lived with his partner in Gwishtibi near Tskaltubo in the Imereti region .
