Ott kosmoses ( Russian Отть в космосе ; in German "Ott im Kosmos") is the title of an Estonian puppet cartoon in color from 1961 . He got inspiration from the enthusiasm for cosmos in the Soviet Union through Gagarin's first space flight in the same year.

action

Ott is a talented boy at school. One day when he comes home from school, he happens to come to the launch pad of a space rocket and flies into space as a stowaway. There Ott meets some strange beings. Fortunately, the bright boy returns safely to earth. Now he also knows: what you learn in school can often be put to good use in practice ...

production

The animation film was directed by Elbert Tuganov (1920–2007). Tuganov's fourth puppet cartoon brought him his breakthrough as a filmmaker both within the Soviet Union and internationally.

The film was restored and digitized in 2009.

Awards

“Ott kosmoses” received a special award at the astronautics and cosmonautics film festival in Deauville, France in 1963 . A year later he won first prize at the Leningrad Film Festival .
