Location of Otterstedt in Lower Saxony

Otterstedt ( Low German : Otters ) is a district of the Ottersberg district in the northern district of Verden in Lower Saxony in Germany .

geography

Otterstedt is strongly characterized by agriculture. The surrounding cultural landscape with the picturesque alder and oak-lined Pastorensee - also called Otterstedter See - meets the conditions for local recreation to a particularly high degree.

Waters

The Beeke flows through Otterstedt, dividing the location into two parts of the village from the start of settlement. These settlement cores to the east and west of the Beeke, which are worth preserving, can still be clearly recognized today based on the old buildings and green areas there. The Otterstedter Beeke flows into the Walle and this flows into the Wümme .

geology

The highest point of the Ottersberg patch is 29.07 m high on the Hasenberge in the tranquil district of Benkel, which has retained its rural settlement structure despite new buildings such as the Eckstever district.

history

In Otterstedt there is still the peculiarity of the common land . Dieker Rott is the owner of a property on Wilstedter Strasse. It existed before the coupling in 1840, when the former common pastures were divided up by the Otterstedtern. Dieker Rott has 19 farm owners who still hold on to their annual meeting today. This takes place every year on December 27th at a member of Dieker Rott. The original purpose of this association, the maintenance of the roads and ditches in their area, has been taken over by the community. Nevertheless, they meet once a year to discuss, among other things, income from the leasing of the property.

There used to be three different, completely independent meannesses in Otterstedt:

  • the Looger Rott (the largest of the three)
  • the Bruges Rott
  • Dieker Rott

Incorporation:

On July 1, 1972 Otterstedt was incorporated into the unified community Flecken Ottersberg.
