Otto Antrick (political scientist)

Otto Antrick (born April 17, 1909 in Braunschweig ; † 1984 ) was a German political scientist and politician ( SPD ).

Antrick was the son of the SPD politician and industrialist Otto Antrick . He studied cultural and educational sciences at the TH Braunschweig from 1929 to 1932 and 1937/38 . In 1938 he graduated with a doctorate to become Dr. rer. nat. from, a historical (!) work by Ernst August Roloff . In 1943 he ensured Antrick's appointment as managing director of the Braunschweigische Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft , which he immediately placed on a democratic basis in 1945. From 1945 he was an assistant at the TH Braunschweig and, after Roloff's suspension, took over the management of the history seminar for a time, completed his habilitation in 1951 on a topic of university history and taught as a private lecturer . In 1954 he was appointed lecturer for political education at the Pedagogical Institute in Weilburg , where he received the title of professor in 1958. When he moved from Weilburg in 1961, he moved to the Giessen University of Education , where he became deputy director and taught political science until 1968. Antrick was a member of the SPD, for which he gave fundamental lectures.

Antrick had been married since 1946 and had three children.
