Otto Bredt

Otto Bredt (born May 11, 1888 in Cologne ; † July 25, 1973 in Hanover ) was a German management consultant and honorary chairman of the Institute of Auditors .

Life

Otto Bredt studied mechanical engineering, economics and business administration in Karlsruhe, Berlin and Bonn. In Karlsruhe he was active in the Corps Saxonia . During the First World War he was regimental adjutant of a horse regiment of hunters. In 1920 he received his doctorate in engineering. at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg . He played a decisive role in the rebuilding of the auditing profession and the rationalization board of the German economy (honorary member from 1959), eight years president of the Lower Saxony chamber of the profession, twelve years first deputy chairman. 1947 to 1967 chairman of the administrative board of the Lower Saxony Symphony Orchestra , member since 1934, since 1967 chairman of the advisory board of H. Bahlsen Keksfabrik KG , since 1970 chairman of the advisory board of Deylen & Söhne KG and member of the advisory board of H. Wohlenberg KG.

Awards

Bredt received both classes of the Iron Cross in 1914/18 , later the Cross of Honor of the Front Fighters , 1939/45 the War Merit Cross II. Class, the Carl Friedrich von Siemens plaque of the RKW for services to rationalization (1967), 1956 the Great Federal cross of merit , in 1968 the star of the Grand cross of merit and in 1966 the Japanese Order of the Rising sun .

1961 awarded him the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University in Frankfurt in the St. Paul's Church the dignity of Dr. rer. pole. hc of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.
