from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otto Friedli (born June 28, 1931 in Madison , † March 17, 2008 in Santa Barbara ) was an American rocker . He was one of the founders of the Hells Angels in 1948 .

Life

Otto Friedli was one of the founding members of the Motorcycle and Car Club Pissed Off Bastards of Bloomington (POBOB) in 1945 , which took part in the Hollister riots in 1947 . As one of the few founding members, Friedli was not a WWII veteran . At the time it was founded, he was just 14 years old. Shortly after the events in Hollister he left the club and founded the first charter of the Hells Angels in San Bernardino with other former POBOBs , which later became part of the San Francisco Charter in 1954. He was president of the charter there for years. In 1958, however, the Hells Angels from San Bernardino were taken over by Sonny Bargerdisplaced, who moved the Mother Charter of the Hells Angels to Oakland and quickly rose to become the most famous Hells Angel. In the late 1960s Friedli left the Hells Angels after serving in prison and became a born again Christian . However, he remained loyal to rocker culture and was a member of the Christian rocker club Black Sheep - Harley-Davidsons for Christ until his death in 2008 .
