Otto Gerloff

Otto Paul Gerloff (born July 24, 1876 in Magdeburg , † January 17, 1956 in Niederaschau ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a teacher, Gerloff studied law in Halle after attending the “König Wilhelm” high school in Magdeburg . During his studies in 1896 he became a member of the Gemania Halle fraternity . After his graduation, he was in 1907 mayor in Stendal , 1914 Deputy Mayor and from 1915 to 1916 Mayor in Grudziadz . In Grudziadz he was captain in the garrison battalion 3. From 1917 to 1941 he was mayor in Landsberg on the Warta River . In 1933 he joined the NSDAP . Together with Konrad Adenauer and Carl Friedrich Goerdeler , Gerloff was on the board of the German Association of Cities . He was general leader of the German Red Cross , for which he later received the Great Federal Cross of Merit.
