Otto H. Kegel

Otto Helmut Kegel (born July 20, 1934 in Bethlehem (Pennsylvania) ) is a German mathematician who deals with group theory.

Kegel graduated from high school in 1954 in Frankfurt am Main and received his doctorate in 1961 from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main under Reinhold Baer ( interchangeability of subgroups and compositional structure in finite groups ). Since 1970 he has been a professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1999 he retired.

He was editor of the Archives for Mathematics. In 1962 he gave a lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Stockholm ( Locally finite groups with a partition ).

He is married and has a daughter.
