Otto Hass

Otto Hass (* 1938 in the eastern areas of the German Reich ) is a German mathematician specializing in financial mathematics and business mathematics .

life and career

Hass completed his early school education in various places in Germany. After graduating from high school in Speyer , he studied mathematics , philosophy and theology at the University of Heidelberg and the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) . He completed his mathematics studies with a diploma . He then worked initially as a research assistant and later as an assistant at the chair for corporate management at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo) at FAU. As a result, the faculty assigned him to teach in the preparatory courses in mathematics and financial mathematics , which he held until his retirement in 2003. During his time as a professor, he also finished his theology studies and wrote his doctoral thesis. In 1993 he was accepted by the FAU theological faculty with his dissertation Hermann Strathmann . Christian thought and practice in turbulent times " doctorate . In the course of his work he published numerous publications and articles in specialist journals. He worked with the business mathematician Norman Fickel and the holder of the chair for economics at FAU, Werner Lachmann , an expert in economic and development policy , whom he has known since he was appointed to the chair in 1992.

Otto Hass enjoyed an excellent reputation among his students because he was able to explain complicated issues in an easily understandable way.

In retirement he occasionally preached in the Protestant Church of the Redeemer in the Leyh district of Nuremberg .
