After two years he moved to Reiss Brothers, also in Manchester. She made him the offer to take over the management of her branch in Canton / China - after replacing the previous owner - as a partner. After being naturalized in England, he came to China in the fall of 1851. There he then carried out the business of the English company under his own responsibility from 1852 to 1857.

In 1858 he married Maria Sophia de Hase (* May 4, 1836 in Bahia; † November 22, 1908 in Hamburg). The marriage resulted in five sons, among them Gustav Carl Framhein , and two daughters, who had already died as children. Professionally, he devoted himself not only to trading business, but also to the property market, which grew in importance in the 1860s after the gate lock was lifted on December 31, 1860. He had the prestigious semi-detached house built for his family on the Alster at St. Benedictstrasse 50 in the elegant Hamburg-Harvestehude district, which remained in the family until the death of his daughter-in-law Emily Eulenburg in 1966. The architect has not yet been identified.
