Otto Henning (politician, 1913)

Otto Henning (born April 13, 1913 , † December 25, 1975 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SED ). From 1959 to 1960 he was acting chairman of the council of the Magdeburg district .

Life

Henning attended elementary school and learned the trade of carpenter. During the Second World War he did military service.

After the war he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and in 1946 became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From April 7, 1946, Henning was a member of the SED Provincial Executive in the Province of Saxony . From October 1947 to March 1950 he acted as 2nd chairman of the central board of IG Holz (successor to Emil Hartung). From the beginning of the 1950s to 1955 he was district administrator or chairman of the council of the district in the Gardelegen district , then until 1959 chairman of the council of the district of Wernigerode . As the successor to Henry Kolb, he became First Deputy Chairman of the Magdeburg District Council in 1959. After the death of Paul Hentschel († November 20, 1959) Henning was appointed acting chairman of the district council on November 29, 1959. On July 6, 1960, he and Alois Pisnik , candidate of the Politburo and 1st Secretary of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg, welcomed the Polish Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz in Magdeburg. Henning held office until Kurt Ranke was elected as the new chairman of the district council on July 30, 1960.

Henning was married and had one son. He last lived in Schierke . Henning died after a serious illness on December 25, 1975 at the age of 62 and was buried in the forest cemetery in Magdeburg.
