Alois Pisnik
Alois Pisnik (born September 8, 1911 in Donawitz ; † October 2, 2004 in Rostock ) was an Austrian - German SED functionary.
Life
In Austria he was a member of social democratic youth and trade union organizations. In 1928 he was a member of the SPÖ . From 1926 to 1929 he completed vocational training as a machine and electrical fitter. From 1930 to 1933 he completed a distance learning course as an electrical engineer. In 1933 he joined the KPÖ . In 1934 he took part in the February fighting in Styria , was arrested, sentenced to imprisonment, given amnesty, and in 1940 he was arrested again as an illegal KPÖ functionary in Upper Styria and sentenced to ten years imprisonment by a National Socialist special court.
After his liberation from the prison in Halle (Saale), Pisnik became first secretary of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg in 1952 after several intermediate positions in functions of the KPD and SED in Saxony-Anhalt . He held this office until 1979. At the same time, he was a member of the Magdeburg district assembly from 1952 to 1958 . He was considered one of the longest-standing members of the SED Central Committee , to which he belonged from 1950 until its dissolution in 1989. From 1958 to 1963 he was a candidate for the Politburo and from 1958 to March 1990 a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR. From 1960 to 1979 Pisnik was a member of the National Defense Council .
After Kurt Tiedke replaced him as party leader in the Magdeburg district, he was a member of the GDR State Council from 1980 until the first free parliamentary elections in March 1990 and only performed protocol duties.
By resolution of the Wernigerode city council , shortly before the peaceful revolution in 1989 , Pisnik was able to acquire a property of around 2000 square meters with a single-family house on Eichberg in the Hasserode district as a retirement home. In November 1993 he was charged with “joint responsibility for the border regime of the GDR” before the Berlin district court . The procedure was for health reasons set .
Awards
- From 1971 to 1990 Pisnik was an honorary citizen of Magdeburg . The honorary citizenship was revoked in 1990 by a resolution of the city council.
