Otto Kaufmann

Otto Kaufmann (born March 29, 1900 in Harscheid near Nümbrecht ; † August 14, 1985 in Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district ) was a German homeland researcher .

Life

Otto Kaufmann was born as the son of a restaurateur and farmer in the Harscheid community of Nümbrecht. After attending primary school in Harscheid and the preparatory institute (today's Wüllenwebergymnasium) in Bergneustadt , where he received teacher training until 1920, he began teaching at what was then an auxiliary school in Gummersbach in 1922 .

Kaufmann married in the early 1930s; the marriage resulted in two daughters. Kaufmann took part in World War II as a soldier for three years .

From 1952 to 1972 he was deputy principal at the special school for the learning disabled in Cologne-Buchforst.

Works

Kaufmann was a traveler in matters of local history and dialects. The Oberbergische Kreis acquired part of his estate and kept it in the archive.

  • In 1918 he put on a Homburg dictionary and a collection of dialect idioms, folk rhymes and puzzles, which he added continuously.
  • 1950 to 1970 he participated in the Rhenish dictionary.
  • 1977 to 1978 dialect proverbs and sayings from Homburg, were distributed as congratulatory booklets of the Raiffeisenbank Nümbrecht.

  • In addition to Homburg customs and Oberberg folk tales , he has written a number of other books.
