Otto Konstantin Kaufmann

Otto Konstantin Kaufmann (born February 28, 1914 in Zurich ; † March 24, 1999 in Pully ; resident in Zurich, Solothurn and Matzendorf ) was a Swiss lawyer and federal judge .

Life

Otto Konstantin Kaufmann, son of the lawyer and politician Josef Kaufmann and Luise Auguste Marie, born Hellweg, devoted himself to the Matura at the Cantonal School in Zurich studying law at the Universities of Zurich and Rome , which he in Zurich in 1939 with the promotion graduated .

After passing the Zurich bar exam in 1942 and a private lecturer at the University of St. Gallen in 1945, Kaufmann pursued further training at Georgetown University and Yale University , which he completed in 1948 with a Master of Law .

As a result, in 1955 Kaufmann held the extraordinary, from 1956 the full professorship for private and public commercial law , as well as tax and administrative law at the University of St. Gallen. In addition, he held the rectorate there from 1963 to 1966 .

On December 8, 1965, he was elected a member of the Federal Supreme Court. A businessman - he was considered an expert in agricultural and nuclear law - was represented there until he retired in 1984. He also held the presidency in his last year of employment.

From 1951 Otto Konstantin Kaufmann was married to Carola Antonia Rübsam from Berneck , daughter of Karl Rudolf Rübsam. His brother was the Roman Catholic theologian and editor Ludwig Kaufmann .
