Otto Lehfeld
Otto Lehfeld (born February 3, 1825 in Breslau , † November 23, 1885 in Weimar ) was a German theater actor .
Life
Lehfeld was the son of a lieutenant. He attended high school in Breslau and was supposed to study medicine, but he joined a traveling group of actors. Franz Dingelstedt brought him to the Munich court stage, where he stayed for a year. Then he played on different stages, partly as a guest, partly in short-term engagements. It was not until 1861 that he accepted an engagement at the Weimar Court Theater and stayed there until 1871, when he was retired due to increasing deafness. Lehfeld was considered an excellent actor who was particularly popular with the audience in the Shakespeare roles of King Lear, Macbeth, Richard III, Shylock, Coriolan and Othello. He died in Weimar in 1885.
