Otto Pressler

Otto Preßler (born December 29, 1895 in Kiel ; † July 8, 1981 ) was a German politician of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD).

Life and work

Preßler was after primary school to setters formed. In the First World War he was a soldier and was used as an armorer. After returning to Kiel in early 1919, he worked at the “ Stocks & Kolbe ” shipyard . There he later became a member of the works council. In the 1920s he moved to the “Germania Werft”. After 1945 he became an authorized representative of IG Metall in Kiel and chairman of the works council of the Hagenuk company .

Political party

From 1911 Preßler belonged to the Socialist Workers Youth , which appeared in Kiel as the "Free Youth Organization on the Kiel Fjord". He joined the newly founded KPD in January 1919. From 1920 he was chairman of the KPD. In 1929 he was expelled from the party for deviating from the law and joined the KPDO . After the Second World War he became a member of the KPD again.

MP

In 1946/47 Preßler belonged to the two appointed state parliaments of Schleswig-Holstein . In the first appointed state parliament he was chairman of the KPD parliamentary group .

In the local elections in 1946 he was elected to the city council of Kiel.
