Otto Scharf (mining engineer)

Otto Scharf (born November 27, 1875 in Klostermansfeld , † December 6, 1942 in Halle ) was a German mining engineer , mine director and industry manager .

Life

Scharf was the son of Hermann Karl Otto Scharf and his wife, the daughter of a landowner from Klostermansfeld. The mining engineer Otto Eduard Scharf was Scharf's uncle.

Otto Scharf became chairman of the board of A. Riebeck'schen Montanwerke in 1927 and took over the management of all IG mines. On October 11, 1929 he became chairman of the administrative board of the Messel union .

In 1934 he became a board member of IG Farben .

During the time of National Socialism Otto Scharf was appointed military economic leader. This was an honorary title that was given to the heads of armaments companies as part of the awards of the NSDAP .

In 1936 Otto Scharf was accepted as a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in the Geology and Paleontology Section .
